Frequently Asked Questions

Short URL’s such as www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/sbe will remain the same in the new environment. You don’t need to reprint name cards or change any URL’s on your flyers. This is also true for short links to department sites or programmes such as the department of finance which has can be reached http://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/sbe/finance.

In case you own a url such as http://www.marble-sbe.nl that points to a specific page on the university website the situation is different.   You need to correct the URL to the new site yourself.

Links that point to a page on the university website will only be effected if they use other URL’s then short links. F.e The URL for the Finance department is http://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/web/Faculties/SBE/Theme/Departments/Finance.htm. The short URL pointing to the same page is http://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/sbe/finance. If an external website uses the short url there is no problem. If the external website uses the first one mentioned the link will cause a 404 error message.

Training session in Drupal are organised by ICTS and only selected persons in the faculty will be given access to the website. The first trainings will be on a one to on basis conducted by the web content coordinator. The persons eligible for the training will be informed in time starting with experts and unit coordinators of academic departments.

The menu structure of the faculty and department website is fix. The “new” structure will resemble the “old” one currently found in the website. If a department is interested in expanding this structure it can do so in cooperation with the central editorial team and the faculty editor starting 1 September 2016.

The answer is nowhere. All this attributes and features are set by a global, UM wide stylesheet and are not subject to change.

The content for the new website was done using the process described in the Transfer section. You find the persons responsible for individual content areas in the Roles and Workflow section

If you encounter error please contact the web content coordinator of your faculty or report the error via the web-form below. He can help you and adjust the content from 18 May onwards until 1 September. Afterwards an editor position within the faculty will be in place that will take over this task.

This decision was taken by the central marketing and communication department. Due to a limited amount of resources and time constraints on the faculty level the phase model ensures that the most important content is online immediately and the less important one thereafter. The measure of importance is take from the point of view of the clients and customers and might not reflect faculty members self perception.

The most common reason is that you use Internet Explorer 11. To solve it you need to remove the maastrichtuniversity.nl domain from your Compatibility View setting list. You find the setting on the right upper corner of your browser window.

Compatibility settings

The new website comes equipped with a personal profile system. This means that every member has a profile page where she or he can place information, control its appearance and update time-sensitive information independent of an editor or third person.

Status: Currently this system is active and has incorporated all information from the previous personal profile pages.

To access your personal profile page go here and use your UM login information to authenticate. After you logged into the system you see an overview of all profiles and on the left hand side of the screen the ability to adjust your own information.
